Continuous Line Drawing

“A drawing is simply a line going for a walk.” -Paul Klee

Every drawing is built from a line.  In the Atelier, we have been exploring the line with challenging games for the brain. In continuous line drawing, students attempt to never lift the pencil from the paper as they “trace” the shape of the object with their hand.   When they practice this sort of keen observation, they are removing the expectations of what their drawing “should” look like, and attuning their sight to notice the minute details, and thus, the variety within the object.  Find out more about these drawing exercises in the Atelier at Back to School Night!
